I took up photography in the 1960s and was a keen photographer for many years. However, family and work took over in the 1980s and for 20-odd years I mostly just took family photos and holiday snaps. I revived my interest in photography in 2009 and have been learning photoshop skills to replace my old darkroom skills. Nothing beats the excitement of seeing a print emerge from the developer though.
Although I really admire striking single images, I am really most interested in picture series - sets of photos around some linking theme. I'm in the process of migrating galleries to posterous, as I like the photo gallery theme there. Pictures also on my flickr pages.
My 10:10 project. This aim of this project is to take 10 photos all within 10 minutes walk of my house. We are lucky to live on the edge of town and immediately adjacent to a disused railway that's now a country walk. Photos get updated and changed over time.
Images of Edinburgh. A set of images on related themes in Edinburgh.
Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. A set of images in and around Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.
365 food photos (flickr link) I wanted to set myself a challenge which would involve taking photos every day. As I think of myself as an amateur foodie and, of course, we eat every day, I decided to illustrate a year of food by choosing one photo per day. I started on 22nd January 2011 (I know, I should have started on the 1st but didn't think of the idea then).
Photos with some commentary are also on my blog 365 days of food photos.
