Software Engineering, 9th edition, Chapter 10. Ian Sommerville, Addison-Wesley (website)

This is a wide-ranging collection of papers on all aspects of sociotechnical systems. There is a specific introductory section on sociotechnical systems and a more detailed accompanying paper that discusses the history of sociotechnical systems design methods.
